Join us June 17 - Hear firsthand experiences of life in the Middle East today

On Wednesday, June 17 at 6:30 pm, Spring Glen Church will host two young Palestinian women--Shurouq Isam Alatrash and Heba Elias Bannoura--for pizza, salad and conversation.
They are eager to share their personal experiences growing up in and attending school in Palestine. Shurouq will graduate from Bethlehem University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in June 2015. Heba will graduate from Bethlehem University with a degree in Midwifery in June 2015. As Christians (Greek Orthodox) in a region of great religious and political tension, Shurouq and Heba bring an interesting perspective to the challenges they and their fellow Palestinians face.
Shurouq and Heba have each prepared a brief presentation and will gladly answer any questions you may have. Join us in welcoming Shurouq and Heba to Hamden. To ensure there is enough food, if you are planning to attend, please RSVP by calling the Church Office at (203) 288-3381 or by emailing  no later than 3pm, Tuesday, June 16.
Shurouq and Heba’s visit is sponsored by the Tree of Life Educational Fund (TOL). They are visiting churches throughout New England. TOL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that was established by The First Congregational Church of Old Lyme to provide cross-cultural and transnational travel experiences, interfaith conferences and educational opportunities to help participants become more enlightened and more engaged in making this a more just and peaceful world in which to live.
It is hoped that this can be the first of several events to help us better understand life in the Middle East today. Please look for announcements about other learning opportunities to be offered in the fall.
Hope you'll be able to join us!
